May Newsletter

TO ALL TC SCS MEMBERS,
The latest chapter head newsletter has an update on where everything stands now. It
looks like all 5 of our journal papers are now in the pipeline. Here’s the way I read it-
Paper #1- The TANES electrical stimulation therapy paper has been published.
Paper #2- The Method & Tissue repairs papers have been accepted. They should be
published at any time now. I think this one can stand alone as a very important
development because it describes the excellent integration and regeneration of our cell
transplant in the chronic injury.
Paper #3- The Graft paper is in review for acceptance.
Paper #4- The Tubing Technique paper is being revised for re-submission.
Paper #5- The Refunction paper, which combines the previous 4 papers and shows the
up to 30% return of function results we have achieved, will soon be revised and sent in
again.
These revisions seem to be a normal part of the procedure as I believe all of our papers
have had to be revised in order to comply with what the various journals require. As I’ve
said before, the publication of these first two papers should pretty much clear the way for
our 5th paper to be accepted. Then we’ll see who’s really interested in cure and who’s
just milking it for their own profit.
As for our next experiments, you’ll see that everything is pretty much aimed at getting our
treatment into human trials. Once we do that, assuming we have the same kind of
success that we’ve had with the animals, the ball should really start rolling downhill fast.
This recession and the resulting effect it’s had on our fundraising have just been a killer.
We are probably a year behind where we could have and should have been by now if we
could have just maintained our previous levels of funding. However, it is what it is so it’s
up to us to bring that funding back.
Here’s one way to look at it. SCS’s pre-recession budget was a little over a million
dollars a year. If 10,000 people, that’s probably about 1% of the SCI population in this
country, raised just $200 each for SCS, that alone would be two million dollars! How
simple is that? And if they could do that now, they could do it again in 6 months. Then
add in all our regular fundraisers. BINGO! Of course, it might be more realistic to get
2,000 people to raise $1,000 each.
So let’s find those people!
